Before I dive into the content I am going to be focusing on this blog, I want to share a bit about me! I am Caroline and am a 19 year old freshman at the University of Dayton but born & raised in the Chicago burbs. This blog is an assignment for my english 100 writing seminar yet we get a lot of flexibility when it comes to our writing on this platform. I decided to write about & focus my topic on this blog to friendship. I was insipired by the theme of the course but each blog assignment in which there is not topic assigned I will choose to write about my friends, either here at UD or from back home, and share stories of how I met them and why I value their frienship in my life.
This week I am going to tell you a little about me as a writer. I have never been one to dread English class. Do I enjoy reading? Quite honestly no, but I do enjoy writing. My grandpa on my dad’s side of the family was a poet and wrote both my brother and myself a poem before his passing when I was 5 years old. I like to think that as I write and journal especially, I can feel a little more connected to him. As a writer I think my strengths are in the detail I can paint into the readers’ minds through my writing yet my wordiness usually then becomes one of my weaknesses. I hope that I can improve upon that this semester and feel more confident in my grammar and that my word choice is deliberate and meaningful.
