I have known Adrienne since kindergarten. We were in Mrs. Pult’s morning kindergarten class together and I remember her always being the girl with cute clothes and well styled hair. In first grade we joined the same girl scout troop together and became friends. We were never close friends in elementary school but we would always go to each other’s birthday parties and have the occassional play date.
In third grade we realized that our grandparents owned lake houses directly across the street from each other and one weekend we were both there at the same time and I went over to Adrienne’s grandparents house and we did face masks and swam in the lake together.
Adrienne has an annual pool party which started with just all the girls who were friends with her in our grade and then turned into about half of our grade going over to her house one night after school was out for summer to hang out in the pool and hot tub.
Senior year is when Adrienne and I really became close friends. The previous year she went abroad for two weeks with my two best friends and then we all started hanging out more and more after. In January of our senior year Adrienne and I went on a one day trip with our friend Ben to New York City for Ben’s birthday. It was an unforgettable experience. We bought round trip tickets for $140 and left our houses around 4am and were home around 10pm that same day.
Adrienne is the kind of friend who never fails to make me laugh. Last night our friend group was on a zoom call together watching Phinneas and Ferb and Adrienne was singing the entire theme song making me laugh so much. I am so glad I got to know the girl in my Girl Scout troop in first grade.
